Installing SuSE Linux

I'm trying to get on some type of bandwagon and install Linux on a really old machine that I have built. (Trying to decide if I want to be a programmer for the rest of my life or at least 'till I retire or something). So I decided I better be more up to date on a few things.

I'm installing SuSE Linux 9.3 (German acronym:Software- und System-Entwicklung... properly pronounced /susə/, but often pronounced /suzi/ source: Wikipedia).

It's taking a while since I am doing a network install from University of Utah mirror. My comcast connection is fast. The big hang up is the really slow computer because it has to install each package after it downloads it. (AKA it doesn't download the whole program at once)

I'm installing based on a sweet tutorial that I found on Howtoforge.com. It basically shows you how you can setup the operating system with a web server, mail server, dns server, ftp server, pop3 server, and site statistics. I mostly want the web server and ftp server, but the others will be fun to play around with.
